Inktober 52 - 2021 39
Similar to the whole "Golden" thing, I'm not a fan of monarchic imagery, and the butterfly didn't particularly catch my fancy either. Part of that might be me being staunchly anti-monarchy, as their primary function seems to be to breed, and I happen to think that's not exactly ethical. As such, I'm not going to spend a week drawing a royal and will use this opportunity to do some more Honkai Impact fanart.
Fu Hua battlesuits have some of the most interesting designs I think. What this means for me however, is that I've got a lot of details to draw. I'm not necessarily comfortable with overly detailed designs yet, but this might be a good point to try.
The Inking passes are starting to go really quickly now, that I've been in the habit of inking over sketches every week. This was about ten minutes of inking. I'll also have to address the chicken on the picture - I just thought he was funny.
I took a break from inking and did some early shading. I'm not actually sure what I want the chest-area to look like. I've got reference of the character of course, but that doesn't really help me, seeing as it's a 3D modeled, textured cloth.
The process ran away with me again and I forgot to document some of the steps. Either way, I chose to obscure the patterns with shadows where I had difficulty figuring it out. Much of the battlesuit's moveset includes chains, hence the large one bisecting the image, and I thought I might as well keep hand-lettering since it turned out kinda well with the Golden prompt.
Iron fist and watchful eye,
closed in on purple gowns.
The time has come for short goodbyes,
to golden, jeweled crowns.
