Art Practice - 2023, 02
I'm starting to amass a not insignificant list of things I technically need to practice. I picked up the blanket prompt, to follow the point with fabric. Where is there more fabric than a nice blanket or two. Framing becomes a problem again though. As a secondary prompt I used moth, which I thought might be a cute accent to however I'd choose to frame the blankets. It also helps with finding a nice motif.
Whoops, another still-life with blankets. A single moth, from far away I think is nice, more than five, up close make me nervous. Considering it's sitting on one of the blankets, it's probably a happy one. Shading might not come out very complex on this one. It's a better piece to get back into the routine, I think, than the last one. It's much more simple and though it's not a geometric construction, technically and I don't have to draw a dog. On the other hand, saying that the moth was drawn free hand and without reference, doesn't buy me any recognition among peers.
Free flowing fabric might not be as much of an issue for me after all. Maybe the issue is interaction with other objects. Blankets don't really interact with a lot of things though, so this was the best I could come up with. This lonely chair in the void looks a tad lonely though.
They rise from the chair in the living room.
It's still dark out, it's time to go soon.
The blanket slips off the back to the floor,
and a moth flutters in through the open door.
